On July 8, 2026, our store relocation was featured in the morning edition of the Oita Godo Shimbun.

About the Article

The article covers Yamashiroya’s relocation to Hamamachi, Bungotakada City — the very site where the store was founded. Established in 1859, in the final years of the Edo period, as a sake brewery, Yamashiroya later expanded into the wholesale and retail of sake and food products. Now in its 7th generation, the store specializes exclusively in sake, shochu, wine, and food products from Oita Prefecture. The article highlights our hope that the new store, housed in a renovated 100-year-old building, will contribute to revitalizing the local community.

About the New Store

The new store occupies a renovated building at our founding site in Hamamachi. It offers a carefully selected range of sake, shochu, wine, and food products from across Oita Prefecture, and is expected to become a new destination for visitors exploring the area. Our former location now serves as a warehouse for our online store.

Why We Moved

It felt as though we were guided back to where it all began. Moving from a convenient location on the main street to a quiet back alley may seem like an unconventional decision by ordinary business standards. Still, we are committed to sharing Oita’s finest products, supporting tourism in this Showa-era town, and contributing to the revitalization of our local community.
